91ÁÔÆæ Saint Mary’s University has been recognized by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge with a 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal for its commitment to promoting nonpartisan civic engagement among students.

The 91ÁÔÆæ was one of 243 colleges and universities nationwide to receive the recognition, which honors institutions with established action plans designed to strengthen civic learning and student participation in the democratic process.

The recognition reflects the work of 91ÁÔÆæ Votes, an initiative coordinated by Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs and other University partners. The initiative provides students with opportunities to learn about civic participation, engage in dialogue and access resources to help them participate in elections.

“At the 91ÁÔÆæ, civic engagement is not a co-curricular activity. It is part of how we prepare students to lead with purpose and serve the common good,” said Lisha Maddox, EdD, executive director of Student Life, Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement. “91ÁÔÆæ Votes has become a signature program because it creates meaningful pathways for students to learn about issues, engage in dialogue and participate in the democratic process. Supporting this initiative reinforces our mission to develop leaders who are informed, empowered and committed to making a difference.”

The latest recognition builds on the 91ÁÔÆæ’s ongoing participation in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. In 2024, 91ÁÔÆæ received a Bronze Seal for its nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts.

The University is marking National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 15 with 91ÁÔÆæ Votes information tables at both the Chalon and Doheny campuses, where students can register to vote and access resources about voter participation.

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge supports colleges and universities in strengthening nonpartisan student voter engagement and civic participation.
